On Sunday, Team Quest Australia/Martial Arts Development held their first In House sparring competition. What a great success to say at the least!

Just under $500 was raised for Interplast Australia which helps those in the Asia Pacific area who suffer from treatable deformities and injuries because of a lack of access to simple health care. The money will go to delivery of free treatment to those who would otherwise not be able to afford it, giving these people hope, and a chance at rebuilding their lives.

Some of the students are involved in an amazing group called ‘The Rotaract club of Western Sydney’ which is a group of under 30’s trying to help the community and those less fortunate. They have been raising money for Interplast Australia and Team Quest/M.A.D have been honoured to help.

The match ups’s were a great success and all the students demonstrated strong skills and have taken a lot away from the day. The referee on the day was a Team Quest Aus/M.A.D coach, John Sharp referees the UFC when in Australia and has ref’d TUF Australia.

All competitors had an amazing opportunity having such a high calibre referee involved, something they will never get unless going pro in MMA. The matches held were in Kickboxing, BJJ and MMA. The final match was a special rarity Pro MMA fighter David Taylor-Smith and team mate Pro MMA fighter Nick Ariel, who both compete in the Lightweight division sparring at intensity 2x5min rounds. The fun hype videos made throughout the weeks kept great interest in all the matches of the day.

Providing their great services also, a DJ, an MC, Coaches and Pro fighters Glenn and David also cornered the competitors and we hosted a BBQ after the matches.

We want to thank everyone involved and donating their services, time and support to this event. Not only did we help some great team mates raise money, 100% of the kind donations will go to making other people’s lives better and competitors got to test their skills and support team mates. This was a winning day all round!

The next one will be held in December and we look forward to seeing what we can do with the next Sparring day!
